Construction

Most know that my dad does construction remodel as his own business. Which is really nice for me because he can work on my place for practically nothing. When I knew I was getting the place, I asked him if he thought we could install hook-ups for a stacked washer/dryer. With the help of his best friend and long time family friend, Lane, we figured out how to run water, gas and a vent from one of the bigger pantries in the kitchen. Here are some pictures of the progress done before they started the real plumbing on 12/14/09.

As you can see I got rid of the electric stove and white hood. I actually sold both on Craigslist to a family who's stove had just died on them. Really worked out well!

This used to be a pantry with shelves and a door. Now its my laundry closet!

I didn't have an inspection done by a professional but did have my dad look at everything. An inspection wouldn't have told me that the wiring done on the re-model in the kitchen was done wrong. Its a good thing I wanted a washer/dryer because I wouldn't have found that out without opening up the walls.

The remodelers also skimped on tiling under the stove. Kind of a hack job. I'll be replacing the tile myself saving some money.

You can say "good-bye" to the naked lady. It was nice while it lasted but with the microwave hood going in there, she's gotta go!

The fan in the dining area will be replaced with a chandelier at some point. =cD
